Gavin Scurr

Gavin Scurr is the Managing Director of Piñata Farms, a seasoned fresh produce grower and industry representative with extensive experience spanning some 30 years in Australian horticulture.

Since joining the family pineapple farm at Wamuran in south-east Queensland in the 1980s, Gavin and brother Stephen have positioned Piñata Farms as one of Australia’s leading fresh fruit producers renowned for product quality and innovation. Piñata Farms is now Australia’s largest pineapple grower, sending Mareeba Gold pineapples to market every week of the year.

Whilst the Pinata Farm property on the Sunshine Coast hinterland gets enough rain for the crop without needing to irrigate, Gavin is passionate about farming responsibly as climate change predictions forecast rising temperatures and extreme rainfall events.

Gavin is former chairman of the Australian Mango Industry Association (AMIA), a grower representative on the Queensland and Northern Territory governments’ ministerial mango industry reference groups and is a member of the Pineapple Advisory Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
