Guide: Top Tips For Taking Back Control Of Your Energy

We asked our community what steps you’re taking to cut their power bills and reduce your energy usage. This is what you told us is working.

Three things everyone should know:

  1. People aren’t just doing one thing: Most supporters are making four or more changes across their home, transport and everyday life – there’s no single silver bullet. People are piecing together whatever works for their household and their budget.
  2. These changes are making life better (as well as cheaper): People told us they’re fitter from cycling, less stressed from catching the train, more connected to their neighbourhood through local food markets – and more in control of their energy costs.
  3. The best tips came from you: A renter using an electric frypan to get around a gas stovetop. A neighbour who coordinates shopping trips. An 84-year-old who swapped gas for induction and loves it. These tips are tried and tested by climate champions in this community.
