As more Australians opt for cleaner and more affordable electric vehicles, the number of EVs on our roads is growing.
The share of EVs (including battery electric and plug-in hybrid cars, vans and utes) sold in Australia is now more than 13%, compared to just 0.8 in 2020. There are now more than 454,000 EVs on our roads – more than double the amount just two years ago.
We need to increase the number of passenger EVs on the road by 20 times over the next decade to meet our climate targets. Now is the time for governments to double down on policies to support EV uptake.
