Can you believe it’s been five years this September since the Climate Council launched backed by an avalanche of community support in Australia’s largest ever crowdfunding campaign?
To mark this occasion, we’re holding special panel discussions, in Sydney and Melbourne on climate action in Australia.
If you’re located in Sydney or Melbourne, this is a chance for you to hear from some of Australia’s leading climate communicators including:
- Professor Tim Flannery – Chief Climate Councillor, internationally acclaimed scientist, explorer and conservationist. Professor Flannery was named Australian of the Year in 2007.
- Amanda McKenzie – environmental leader, Climate Council CEO and founder of the Australian Youth Climate Coalition.
- Professor Lesley Hughes – Climate Councillor and Distinguished Professor of Biology and Pro Vice-Chancellor at Macquarie University.
- Professor Karen Hussey – Climate Councillor and leading Australian researcher in the field of public policy and governance.
- Professor Hilary Bambrick – Climate Councillor and Head of the School of Public Health and Social Work at the Queensland University of Technology.
- Greg Bourne – Climate Councillor and leading knowledge expert on the nexus of climate change, energy, business and policy.
- Sam Mostyn – Climate Council Director and Chair of CitiBank Australia, Carriageworks and Deputy Chair of the Diversity Council of Australia.
- Martijn Wilder – Climate Council Director and Head of Baker & McKenzie’s Global Environmental Markets legal practice.
The events will feature a lively discussion on the future of climate change action in Australia, as well as a Q&A session, where you will have the chance to ask your questions.

Since our launch almost five years ago the Climate Council has been powered by the people, for the people. We only exist because of our community, people like you, who have powered us every step of the way.
We’d love for you to join us for a special evening to hear from our Climate Councillors.
