New research released this week by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) reveals rooftop solar as Australia’s most preferred form of energy, with 87% of respondents somewhat or strongly in favour of home solar power.

Coming in second were large-scale solar facilities with 78%, with wind and hydro not far behind with 72%. The survey places coal at the very bottom of the list, with just 23% in favour of it as an energy source.

Excitingly, the results indicate strong support among Australians for renewable energy – including for funding, with 60% agreeing that funding for large-scale solar facilities should be prioritised over funding for non-renewable energy sources.
