Dr Carl Tidemann is a Senior Researcher in Climate Solutions at the Climate Council. Carl joined the Climate Council from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency Knowledge Sharing team and worked on Big Battery and System Security and Reliability projects.
Carl’s research broadly encapsulates the energy transition and includes energy efficiency, electricity markets, and emissions mitigation more broadly.
Previous research has included the co-benefits of emissions mitigation and environmental governance at the Crawford School of Public Policy and the Fenner School of Environment and Society, ANU along with prior work on environmental governance and the world trade regime. Carl’s PhD research explored the role of governments and governance in Australia’s renewable energy transition through the lenses of affordability and access, energy security and environmental sustainability – known as the energy trilemma and has been published in peer-reviewed journals, books, and reports. Carl is also a Honorary Lecturer at the Fenner School of Environment and Society, Australian National University.
